Nina Flowers: Queen for a "Day"

Mayor John Hickenlooper recognized Denver drag queen Nina Flowers for her contributions as a representative of Denver's gay community, proclaiming May 29 "Nina Flowers Day.”

Flowers, who was taking a short break from her performance at her Drama Drag show at Tracks Nightclub was taken completely by surprise with the news.

“I have no words to describe how I feel," Flowers said after the presentation. "I can’t even believe it.”

After only 18 months of residing in Denver and after finishing second on the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race, Flowers has become one of the most popular drag queens in the Mile High City.

She was recently featured in a Sunday Denver Post article on the local drag scene.
