Today, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter (D) signed legislation that will regulate the state’s medical marijuana dispensaries through a system of local and state licenses, but still allow individual localities to ban dispensaries. Currently there are an estimated 1,100 medical marijuana dispensaries throughout Colorado — the most in any state other than California, which does not have statewide dispensary regulations. Colorado officials estimate that about half of current dispensaries will be able to comply with new regulations.

If you’ve ever wondered how the heck they “cook with cannabis,” then you’re in luck … in a few ways.
First, one of the best chef’s in the city Scott, from 8 Rivers LoDo, will be hosting his “Creative Cooking with Cannabis” class tomorrow, Saturday, May 15 from 11am-1pm. at his restaurant, 1550 Blake St. in Denver.
They’re going to feature their “Fresh Spring Menu” and show you how to help heal pain and discomfort with pieces infused with MMJ.

Medical marijuana patients – have you checked out groundflower.com? I just stumbled across it, and it’s essentially the Yelp! of our budding MMJ industry here in Colorado.

The site features most (though notably not all) dispensaries in Colorado, including what strains each dispensary carries and user-reviews of each listed dispensary. It’s a good way to weed out the sketchy dispensaries from the legitimate ones actually interested in helping patients.

In case you didn’t know, today is April 20. Which is a major holiday for any and all cannabis officianados. And Colorado definitely know how to do 4/20 right. If you’re in Denver, head down to Civic Center Park today to celebrate cannabis with your fellow connisseurs – of course, the peak of the celebration is at 4:20. Get all the details about the Denver rally – which is politically oriented – at the event’s MySpace page. There will be music, speakers, entertainment and booths. Civic Center will be overrun with weed!

In a response to a FOX 31 news story, Apothecary of Colorado owner Wanda James sets the record straight and wants to make some things clear as well as correct some things that were misquoted in the story.

According to the Denver Post,
“The bill focuses on more closely linking doctors and their pot-seeking patients by breaking ties between doctors and dispensaries, requiring doctors who recommend marijuana to have licenses in good standing and requiring a bona fide doctor-patient relationship.”

On Monday, his last full day in office, New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine, signed 54 bills into law including the legalization of medical marijuana, making it the 14th state to do so and NJ have some of the strictest regulations in the country.
